Bonswa from Haiti and Happy Independence Day America!

Today seemed to be a much smoother day in all aspects of our stay. We started the day off with an Independence Day themed devotional taught by Tyler and Lucas. All preconceived expectations of ourselves were squashed and we were ready to go!

Today was our first 9-5 clinic day with many follow ups returning from yesterday. The first patient Tyler, Lucas and Jordan saw was a follow-up stroke patient from yesterday who came back to receive a hemiwalker and foot-up device to help with her walking. Yesterday, she completely broke down to us because she felt helpless. She was unable to go to church without the assistance of her husband and felt bad for having people have to help her. Today, there was nothing but smiles. The work of God couldn’t be denied with this patient. She was able to walk so much easier than yesterday and the look on her husband’s face lit up the room. We were able to pray with the patient and the husband and sent them off on their way!

It seemed like we saw mostly orthopedic patients today and the efficiency of our team was quite evident. The chemistry has continued to build. We saw all of the patients waiting today way before 5pm. We ended our day with a nice surprise by going to our translators Zacherie and Sam’s church to hang out. It was within minutes before we all broke into worship. Zacherie, one of our translators, played the keys and it was such a perfect and calming way to end the day.

We also got the opportunity to walk a couple blocks in the neighborhood with our translator Sam and were able to check out his home. Weird stares and ‘blanc’ calls from the locals ensued but it was an eye opening and humbling experience for most of us.

We are currently at the house awaiting our ‘surprise’ July 4th dinner! We have been so blessed by all the prayers. Things are happening here!

Bondye nou kapob!
